When using the data quality software, normally the first step
should be to completely
eliminate duplicates right across the master data of the entire
database using internal
data compa-rison in a one-off batch run. Because of the special
circumstances at E.ON
Energie AG, however, the first step was to build a central master
data server based on SAP, known as a Global Data Client. In
addition, online procedures were implemented to avoid duplicates
when entering new customer data into the database system in the
future.
